HC Deb 03 May 1977 vol 931 c136W
Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what representations he has received from the National Association of Widows expressing concern at the treatment of widows, for income tax purposes, as single women.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

I recently met a small deputation, which included representatives of the National Association of Widows, when the taxation of widows was generally discussed. My right hon. Friend has also seen the association's recent petition handed in to No. 10 Downing Street.
