HC Deb 03 May 1977 vol 931 c114W
Mr. Hatton

asked the Minister for the Civil Service what instructions have been given with regard to the use by the Government Hospitality Fund, for official fuctions, of those hotels in the Trust Houses Forte Group which are the subject of industrial disputes.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

I have issued no instructions relating specifically to hotels in the Trust Houses Forte Group. While the Government Hospitality Fund places bookings at hotels and other premises on the basis of their general suitability for the particular occasion, bearing in mind that the purpose of such hospitality is to generate good will, the general practice is for the Government Hospitality Fund to avoid using any premises where it is known that any circumstances, including industrial disputes, mipht cause embarrassment to guests of Her Majesty's Government; instructions have been given to this effect.
