HC Deb 03 May 1977 vol 931 c161W
31. Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what special plans are being made to absorb the Easter school leavers into employment or further training.

Mr. Golding

It is estimated that just under 70,000 young people left school at Easter to seek employment. These young people will benefit from the Government's measures for alleviating unemployment which have recently been extended and expanded to meet the needs of this year's school leavers. However, the latest statistics indicate that about one-quarter of them are registered as unemployed.
