HC Deb 03 May 1977 vol 931 c108W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection what is the average cost of the following items in London, Edinburgh, Inverness and the Isle of Skye: 1 gallon of petrol, 1 cwt of coal, 1 lb potatoes, 1 lb butter, 1 lb cheese, 1 dozen eggs, 1 pint of milk, 1 large loaf, 1 lb bacon, 1 lb beef and 1 lb apples.

Mr. John Fraser

There are no official statistics giving the average cost of such items in each of those areas. Average retail prices in the United Kingdom for each of the foodstuffs are published monthly in the Department of EmploymentGazette.
