HC Deb 03 May 1977 vol 931 c140W
Mrs. Jeger

asked the Secretary of State for Defence in what circumstances civilians are treated in Service hospitals in Cyprus; what charges are made; and how these are assessed.

Mr. Wellbeloved

Dependants of Service men stationed in Cyprus, and United Kingdom based civilians employed by MOD, are treated free of charge. Slightly different arrangements apply to employees of other Government Departments and of sponsored organisations such as NAAFI. Other civilians treated in emergency or after referral by their doctor are subject to charge at full cost rates as assessed from time to time, though provision exists for alleviation in cases of hardship.
