Mr. Powell

asked the Lord President of the Council if he will arrange for an actuarial investigation to ascertain whether the life expectation of hon. Members, compared with an appropriate control group or groups of the population, is unfavourable or has deteriorated during the last 25 years.

Mr. Foot

I doubt if a special investigation of this kind would be justified, but I shall send the right hon. Gentleman such information as is available to the Government on this matter.
