HC Deb 02 May 1977 vol 931 cc33-4W
Mr. David Price

asked the Secretary of State for Transport why it has been necessary to close sections of the M27 motorway through the parish of Chilworth for repair work within 15 months of its opening; and how long it will take for the repairs to be completed.

Mr. Horam

A section of the westbound carriageway of the M27 Chilworth Link has been closed to avoid danger to traffic while repairs are carried out to an earth slip which has affected a 100-metre length of hard shoulder and verge. Repairs are expected to take three months to complete.

Additionally, there will be lane closures over the next six months on the Ower to Chilworth length and Hursling Link to enable the original contractor to repair cracks in the concrete carriageway.
