Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how much carbine ammunition was ordered for the Ml carbine for the Royal Ulster Constabulary; how much has been delivered; what is the delivery date for the remainder; and when it was ordered;

(2) which model of the Ml carbine is being provided for the Royal Ulster Constabulary; and what is the capacity of the magazine;

(3) how many carbines have so far been issued to Royal Ulster Constabulary personnel in Northern Ireland;

(4) what is the present stock of ammunition available to the Royal Ulster Constabulary for the M1 carbine; and how this stock arose;

(5) whether he is satisfied with the quality and finish of the magazines of the carbines supplied to the Royal Ulster Constabulary;

(6) whether he is satisfied with the quality and finish of the carbines purchased for the Royal Ulster Constabulary;

(7) if he will specify the difficulties experienced with the carbines purchased for the Royal Ulster Constabulary;

(8) how many members of the (a) Royal Ulster Constabulary and (b) the Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve have been trained in the use of the Ml carbine; and what is the period of such training;

(9) how many carbines have been delivered to the Royal Ulster Constabulary; when the order was placed and with whom; what was the price per weapon; and when deliveries are to be completed.
