HL Deb 30 March 1977 vol 381 cc1028-30WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What advice has been given on technical matters by officers of the Departments of Transport and the Environment respectively to the Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment, and whether the persons giving that advice have also given evidence or been concerned in making other written or oral communications to the Committee.

Baroness STEDMAN

Advice on technical matters has been given to the Committee as part of the evidence submitted to it by the Departments of Transport and the Environment. In some cases the authors have also given oral evidence.

Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Department of Transport will be giving any evidence or making any other communication to the Advisory Committee on Trunk Road Assessment, and whether those communications, if any, will be published.

Baroness STEDMAN

The Department of Transport has given evidence to the Committee about its methods of trunk road appraisal. The Committee does not sit in public and the Department will not be publishing its evidence. The methods of appraisal have however been fully explained in a number of published documents.

House adjourned at twenty-three minutes past nine o'clock.
