§ The Prime MinisterThe chief responsibilities of the Patronage Secretary and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury are those of the Chief Government Whip in the House of Commons. As such, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Government's programme of parliamentary business. He is also responsible for duties in relation to the Government's supporters in the House which are common to the Whips of all parties in relation to their supporters.
