§ Mr. JohnThe readily available information shows that the number of persons aged 16 years or over found guilty of indictable offences in England and Wales in 1975 was 335,841, and the number of persons aged 17 years and over found guilty of indictable offences in Northern Ireland in 1975 was 3,694. The number of persons aged 16 years or over against whom, in 1975, a charge was proven in Scotland in respect of a crime was 33,716. Because of the different definition of offences in Scotland, it is not possible to give an overall figure for Great Britain or for the United Kingdom.
