§ Mr. Frank Allaunasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what is his estimate of the number of tenants of resident landlords who enjoy restricted security only;
(2) what is his estimate of the total number of resident landlords.
§ Mr. FreesonIn 1973, the last year for which figures are available, there were an estimated 400,000 private tenants living in the same building as their landlord: 190,000 in unfurnished accommodation, 210,000 in furnished. I cannot give precise figures, but at that time the large majority of furnished tenants enjoyed restricted security only. There is no estimate of the number of resident landlords.
