asked the Secretary of State for Defence what reduction has taken place in the number of Victor tanker aircraft.

In April 1974 the RAF tanker front-line force consisted of three squadrons of Victor K1 aircraft. The reductions in our overseas commitments as a result of the defence review made it possible to reduce the force to two squadrons of Victor K2 aircraft. The Victor K2 tanker represents a significant improvement in capability over K1 aircraft.
