HC Deb 21 March 1977 vol 928 c445W
Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if the policy of the Government is to encourage co-education for those studying physical education in Scotland, whether he will conduct a feasibility study in order to discover whether this is practicable and desirable;

(2) if it is the policy of the Government to discourage co-education for those studying physical education in Scotland.

Mr. McElhone

None of the responses to my right hon. Friend's paper contains representations for or against co-education for those seeking qualification as teachers of physical education. My right hon. Friend sees no need to adopt one particular view on this matter nor any need for a feasibility study.
