HC Deb 17 March 1977 vol 928 cc297-8W
42. Mr. Cormack

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is satisfied with the level of investment in the agriculture industry.

Mr. John Silkin

The annual review showed a further reduction in the volume of new investment in 1976, particularly in buildings and works. This was largely associated with the reduction in net income and in retained earnings which form the principal source of investment. The review did, however, indicate that, given normal weather, net income should recover in 1977 –78.
