HC Deb 17 March 1977 vol 928 cc292-3W
26. Sir A. Meyer

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will devalue the green pound in an attempt to achieve agreement between member States of the EEC for acceptance of the Commission's proposals for an average increase in support prices of 3 per cent. for the coming year.

33. Mr. Mates

asked the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food what is the maximum devaluation of the green pound he will accept in order to get agreement between member States for the implementation of the EEC Commission's price proposals for the coming year.

Mr. John Silkin

The Government's view remains that a devaluation should be made only if it were in the overall national interest.
