HC Deb 17 March 1977 vol 928 c303W
Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will place in the Library a copy of his correspondence with the Port of New York Authority in connection with its delaying the ruling for British Airways and Air France Concorde landing rights at Kennedy Airport; what explanation for the delay was given; and when he expects the decision to be made.

Mr. Clinton Davis

I have had no correspondence with the Port of New York Authority. It decided not to consider Concorde at its meeting on 10th March before it had reviewed information on Concorde's noise impact. Its next meeting is on 14th April.

Mr. Crawford

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is his estimate of the cost involved in the promotional and legal work to support the case for Concorde to be allowed to use New York for scheduled services.

Mr. Clinton Davis

The costs fall to several Government Departments and other organisations and could not be estimated without disproportionate expense.
