§ Mr. Sproatasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons immediately prior to their employment in his Department were themselves registered as unemployed in 1976.
§ Mr. Orme1,889 of the staff who joined my Department in 1976 indicated that they were unemployed for three months or more before joining. It is not known how many were registered as unemployed, or if others had been unemployed for shorter periods.
