HC Deb 15 March 1977 vol 928 cc116-7W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a further statement concerning the dispute at Hopkinsons, Birkby, Huddersfield, in view of the fact that the dispute has been going on for some considerable time; and if he will indicate the efforts which have been made by his officials, both at regional and national level, to help resolve the problem.

Mr. Harold Walker

I greatly regret that this protracted dispute has not yet been resolved. I understand that the main issue at stake is the demand of the AUEW (TASS) that all its members who have been dismissed by the company should be reinstated. The independent Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service has held several meetings with the parties to the dispute and continues to keep in close touch with the situation. I am confident that ACAS will not let slip any opportunity for making progress towards resolving the dispute.
