HC Deb 15 March 1977 vol 928 c164W
48. Rear-Admiral Morgan-Giles

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what action has been taken to fulfil the promise made to the hon. and gallant Member for Winchester by the Lord President of the Council on Thursday 10th March to deal with the question of retirement gratuities for short-service Royal Navy and Royal Air Force officers.

Dr. Gilbert

My right hon. Friend the Leader of the House made clear, in reply to the hon. Member for Gillingham (Mr. Burden) on the same day, that Ministers have taken no decision on this matter—[Vol. 927, c. 1640.]—Discussions are taking place between this Department, the Civil Service Department and the Department of Health and Social Security, and a statement will be made to the House as soon as possible.
