HC Deb 15 March 1977 vol 928 c158W
Mr. Hurd

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many prosecutions by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise were authorised in respect of offences against the order prohibiting the export of ferrous scrap to Spain; who authorised the prosecutions; and how many prosecutions were continued after the prohibition order ceased to have effect on 1st January 1975.

Mr. Denzil Davies

There has been one such prosecution since the beginning of 1973. The decision to prosecute was taken by officials of Her Majesty's Customs and Excise acting on behalf of the Commissioners of that Department. The prohibition order did not cease to have effect on 1st January 1975, and remains in force.
