HC Deb 15 March 1977 vol 928 cc164-5W
Mr. Gould

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what proportion of the money spent on combined cadet forces is spent in schools other than local authority schools.

Dr. Gilbert

I regret that it is not possible to give the information requested, as Combined Cadet Force accounts and estimates are not classified in this way.

Mr. Gould

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the annual cost of supporting combined cadet forces in schools; and, in particular, what is the cost of visits by cadets to defence establishments, the cost of camps attended by cadets, and the cost of salaries paid to combined cadet force officers.

Dr. Gilbert

The cost of the Combined Cadet Force in 1977–78 is estimated to be £2.092 million. I regret that separate figures for the cost of visits by cadets to defence establishments and the cost of camps are not available. The cost of pay, including national insurance contributions, of officers and other adult instructors of the CCF is estimated at £ 0.422 million for 1977–78.
