Mr. Forman

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the outcome of the recent London meeting convened to examine the possibility of reaching a new International Tea Agreement.

Mr. Bishop

The Fourth Session of the FAO Inter-Governmental Group meeting on tea, held in London in February 1977, made further progress towards the negotiation of an international tea agreement. Exporters and importers agreed on the work that needed to be done to achieve that end.

It is expected that FAO and UNCTAD will be holding further meetings later this year.
