HC Deb 14 March 1977 vol 928 c81W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how much the equivalent ranks to a squadron leader in the Royal Air Force are paid on retirement in France, Germany, Italy and the USA; and how much a squadron leader is paid on retirement in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Wellbeloved

A squadron leader aged 55 or more who retires with the maximum 34 years' reckonable service currently receives retired pay of£3,108 per annum. Approximate corresponding figures in France, West Germany and the USA respectively are:

  • 53,668 FF
  • 35,211 DM
  • 15,427 US dollars
There is no corresponding figure in Italy, where officers do not retire at this rank.
