§ Mr. John SilkinDetails of the grants paid out by my Department can be found in the published Appropriation Accounts and Supply Estimates. Direct grants to farmers appear in Class III 1 and Class XV 1, both of which also include subsidies and other payments to the industry. Grants to other public or private bodies are shown under the relevant subheads of Class III 4, 7 and 8.
In 1976–77, my Department is also making payments and carrying out checks in respect of expenditure by the Intervention Board for Agricultural Produce and by the Department of Prices & Consumer Protection (Class III, 3 and 5).
