HC Deb 10 March 1977 vol 927 c660W
Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he is satisfied with the training facilities available to young people in Kirkby and Ormskirk; and if he is satisfied that there will be sufficient skilled labour available to meet the needs of industry if and when the economy recovers.

Mr. Golding

Not yet. I am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that urgent steps are being taken to improve the training facilities available to young people in Kirkby and Ormskirk. Some facilities are already available in Kirkby and Ormskirk, and additional facilities are being established in Skelmersdale. Consideration is also being given to ways of encouraging young people in Kirkby and Ormskirk to take advantage of the wide range of training facilities available in Liverpool and the rest of Merseyside.
