HC Deb 10 March 1977 vol 927 c656W
Mr. George Gardiner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many Health Service hospitals in the United Kingdom do not have facilities on the premises for the sale of cigarettes to patients.

Mr. Moyle

I regret that the information requested is not available. My right hon. Friend issued fresh guidance earlier this week which urges health authorities to consider introducing a ban on the sale of cigarettes in hospitals and other health premises while recognising that special arrangements may be necessary in the case of hospitals with longer-stay patients.
