HC Deb 10 March 1977 vol 927 c640W
Dr. McDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will indicate the extent to which Chrysler United Kingdom will be expected to replace important components with components manufactured in the United Kingdom according to the terms of the forthcoming planning agreement with Chrysler United Kingdom.

Mr. Cryer

The contents of the planning agreement are confidential, but I can say it is the company's intention whenever possible, and having regard to normal commercial considerations, to buy components from British sources. Most of Chrysler United Kingdom's production is in any case substantially British sourced. The British content of the Alpine car being assembled at Ryton will be increased during this year to over 50 per cent. with the possibility of further increases to follow.
