§ Dr. Vaughanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the latest position of reallocation of funds to local authorities for mental health matters under the joint financing project.
§ Mr. EnnalsThe allocations recently made to regional health authorities in England for 1977–78 include £21 million earmarked for jointly financed local authority social service projects, as402W against £8 million for the current year. The aim is to improve community facilities for the most needy groups in the community. The bulk of the funds are used for residential, day and domiciliary services for the elderly, the mentally ill and the mentally handicapped. The money is to be shared between area health authorities in proportion to population weighted to take account of the needs for these priority groups, and will allow for expansion in schemes of this kind in 1977–78.
