§ 29. Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will amend the Prison Rules so as to limit the power of governors and boards of visitors to impose the penalty of loss of remission.
§ Mr. JohnWe have no plans to introduce limitations additional to those currently embodied in the Rules.
§ 39. Mrs. Knightasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the working of the prerelease scheme for persons serving a prison sentence.
§ Mr. JohnThe pre-release employment scheme plays a valuable part in the rehabilitation of prisoners, but there is no room for complacency: continuous effort and concern are necessary to find suitable employment and to make the fullest possible use of available places.
