§ The Prime MinisterIn conjunction with my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Industry, Employment and Trade, I met representatives of the CBI on 15th February at their request to enable them to give their views on the Bullock Report. The CBI explained its opposition to the majority Report. I told the CBI that the Government were committed to legislation for a radical extension of industrial democracy by representation of the work force on company boards and by improving participation at all other levels in the company structure. I regarded it as important for discussions to begin between the CBI and the Government with a view to securing the largest possible area of agreement.
