HC Deb 01 March 1977 vol 927 c162W
20. Mr. John Hunt

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what discussions he has had with the London office of the Mitsubishi Corporation about the firm's plan to provide financial assistance towards the travel-to-work expenses of its employees; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Harold Walker

Officials of my Department met representatives of the Mitsubishi Corporation on 1st February 1977, and advised them that the introduction of payments towards the travel-to-work costs of employees would be contrary to the pay guidelines. The corporation consequently withdrew these proposals.
