HC Deb 01 March 1977 vol 927 c170W
41. Mr. Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what action he proposes to take to check the increasing unemployment in North Humberside.

Mr. Golding

While unemployment in North Humberside is higher than it was in February 1976 there has been a welcome fall over the past month. The area has benefited from the various measures which the Government have taken to alleviate unemployment. So far over 4,400 persons have been assisted in the area by means of the job creation and work experience programmes, the temporary employment subsidy, the recruitment subsidy and youth employment subsidy schemes, and the job release scheme. The area also stands to benefit from the allocation of additional funds to the temporary employment subsidy scheme and the job creation programme—which was announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 15th December 1976.
