§ Mr. MasonIn the two year period 1975–76 a total of 3,200 complaints were made by members of the public against members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. Of these, 173 were subsequently withdrawn by the complainants. On 31st December 1976, 575 were still under investigation or awaiting decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions. Of the remainder, 221 were found to be substantiated.
