HC Deb 29 June 1977 vol 934 cc263-4W
25. Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will now restore the cuts in house building, improvement, mortgages and purchase and in land acquisition imposed on local authorities; and what is his estimate of the number of unemployed building operatives who would thereby obtain jobs.

Mr. Shore

I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to his intervention during the debate on 20th June.—[Vol 933, c. 923.] The cuts made in the previously planned provisions for local authority capital expenditure on housing this year were ones which would not have substantial effects on employment in the building industry.
