HC Deb 29 June 1977 vol 934 c267W
39. Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is taking about the regional housing cost yardstick in view of the increasing difficulty of the district councils of Tyne and Wear County in bringing housing costs within the yardstick level.

Mr. Armstrong

Following the latest quarterly review on 23rd June 1977, the housing cost yardstick was raised, generally, by 2 percentage points. The regional variations for the Northern, North-West and Yorkshire and Humberside Regions were raised to 5 per cent. in variations of price contracts and to 11½ per cent. on firm price contracts to take account of recent tendering experience.
