§ Mr. Formanasked the Secretary of State for Energy what would be the increase in the annual electricity bill for the average household in the United Kingdom if the Government subsidy element in off-peak tariffs were completely removed; and what would be the cost or benefit to the Exchequer if financial help in paying the increased electricity prices were confined to those on or below the official poverty line.
§ Mr. EadieThe temporary special rebate on electricity off-peak tariffs was withdrawn in March 1976 at the same time as compensation in general for the effects of price restraint.
