HC Deb 29 June 1977 vol 934 cc273-4W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has received from the Royal Institute of British Architects about unemployment among private architects as a result of the current workload position; and what replies he has sent.

Mr. Shore

The Royal Institute of British Architects together with the rest of the construction industry has expressed its grave concern about the current state of the industry. The industry's problems have been discussed in many forums, most recently at a meeting between representatives of the industry, led by the President of the RIBA, and the Prime Minister and myself. I am now studying the suggestions they made.
