§ Mr. Clemitsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many inquiries have been established into alleged breaking of sanctions against Rhodesia under the terms, and since the introduction, of the Southern Rhodesia (UN Sanctions) (No. 2) Order 1968.
§ Mr. RowlandsThe oil inquiry recently set up by the Secretary of State under the sanctions order is the first of its kind. However, the Department of Trade has carried out approximately 23 investigations and Her Majesty's Customs 53W and Excise approximately 120 under the sanctions order and related legislation. In addition, 43 cases have been referred directly to the Director of Public Prosecution.
