§ Mr. Morganasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what progress has been made in flood precaution work in the Elwy Valley, Clwyd, and in particular in the vicinity of Llan-fair Talhaiarn, since the serious flooding of October 1976;
(2) when it is proposed to construct an embankment in, and in the vicinity of Llanfair Talhaiarn, Clwyd, with a view to avoiding future flooding from the River Elwy such as occurred in Octber 1976.

Mr. StrongThe Welsh National Water Development Authority and the Colwyn District Council have applied for grant on schemes to alleviate flooding from the River Elwy and the Nant Barrog, respectively. Both projects will improve flood protection at Llanfair Talhaiarn. Our examination of these applications is well advanced and decisions will be taken shortly. If they are approved it will be for the two authorities to decide on the timing of the work.
