§ Mr. Lawrenceasked the Attorney-General if he will consider bringing to the attention of all magistrates the judgment of Lord Chief Justice Widgery in Williams and Others v Summerfield (1972), 2 A.E.R., 1334, which concerns the circumstances in which an order under Section 7 of the Bankers Books Evidence Act 1879 should be made.
§ The Attorney-GeneralSince a full account of the judgment of the Lord Chief Justice in this case is given in Stone's Justices' Manual, a copy of which is supplied to every magistrates' court, it should not be necessary for my noble Friend to draw the attention of magistrates specifically to it.
