Mr. MacGregor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what will be the increase in net take-home pay after August 1977 as compared with March 1977 of a married man with two children under 11 and one child aged between 11 and 16, earning gross £30, £40, £50, £60 and £70, respectively, resulting from child benefit and the tax changes in the current Finance Bill, including the amendment on the married personal allowance carried by Standing Committee D on 14th June, and on the assumption that his gross income will be increased by 10 per cent. after August.

The figures shown for the increases in net weekly income are based on a 10 per cent. increase in gross earnings between March 1977 and August 1977 and take account of family allowance and child benefit.
