HC Deb 23 June 1977 vol 933 cc516-7W
Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what investigations are currently being carried out by the EEC into the question of fair competition in ordering offshore equipment for North Sea oil; if this matter is being referred to the European Court of Justice; what steps he is taking to offset this EEC pressure; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Benn

The Commission has expressed concern about our interest relief grants scheme for United Kingdom suppliers to the United Kingdom Continental Shelf and discussions with the Commission are still continuing. The matter has not been referred to the European Court.
