§ Mr. Ashleyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which American credentials for general teaching are acceptable in Great Britain; and which of those for teaching the deaf.
§ Miss Margaret JacksonA qualification gained overseas is acceptable for teaching in maintained primary, secondary and special schools and non-maintained special schools in England and Wales if the course of study followed is comparable to that undertaken by a teacher gaining an acceptable qualification in the United Kingdom. As, however, courses in the United States of America vary in content from student to student, each case has to be evaluated separately and it is not possible to produce a list of acceptable credentials.
