HC Deb 21 June 1977 vol 933 cc410-2W
58. Mr. O'Halloran

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that all opticians offer the full range of spectacle frames available under the National Health Service to clients.

Mr. Moyle

Though their professional organisations have asked opticians to stock and display examples of the full range of NHS frames, I am not satisfied that that this advice is followed by all opticians. Following the recent Price Commission recommendation on this matter, I am discussing with the professional organisations what further steps might be taken.

Mr. O'Halloran

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish in the Official Reportthe full range of spectacle frame models available under the National Health Service, indicating the most popular types.

All these frames are also available through the hospital eye service, which can also prescribe any other type of frame needed on clinical grounds.
