asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the average expectation of life in England and Wales, respectively.

Mr. Deakins

The expectation of life at birth in England, based on the mortality rates during the period 1973 to 1975, is 69.5 years for males and 75.8 years for females. The corresponding figures for Wales are 68.2 years and 74.6 years.
