HC Deb 21 June 1977 vol 933 c405W
45. Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many widows and dependants received industrial death benefit in 1976 in respect of those people where pneumoconiosis was a contributory factor to their death.

Mr. Orme

The statistics of industrial death benefit for 1976 will not be available before August and are not analysed in a way that would enable a reply to be given in the precise form the hon. Member requests. However, in 1975, 626 pensions and 24 allowances were awarded in respect of the death of 627 people where pneumoconiosis was a contributory factor. Almost all the pensions would be for widows and the allowances for children, but a few payments would be for other dependants.
