§ Mr. Clemitsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) whether the inquiry into 327W alleged breaking of sanctions against Rhodesia by British oil companies, the setting up of which he announced on 8th April, will be held in public;
(2) when he expects the inquiry into alleged breaking of sanctions against Rhodesia by British oil companies, the setting up of which he announced on 8th April, to start its work;
(3) when he expects to be able to name the members of the inquiry into alleged breaking of sanctions against Rhodesia by British oil companies, the setting up of which he announced on 8th April.
§ Mr. RowlandsThe inquiry has already started. Mr. Bingham is presently assessing the great volume of material he has already received.
The inquiry was established under the powers conferred on my right hon. Friend by the Southern Rhodesia (United Nations Sanctions) (No. 2) Order 1968, which makes no provision for a public inquiry.
It is hoped to announce the names of Mr. Bingham's expert advisers very shortly.
