HC Deb 17 June 1977 vol 933 cc293-4W
Mr. Agee and Mr. Hosenball Miss Richardson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many letters and deputations he received from the general public in connection with the deportation of Mr. Agee and Mr. Hosenball; how many of these were from constituency Labour parties; and how many from trade union branches.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I have received about 950 letters and petitions concerning these cases direct from members of the public and from various organisations. Of these 185 were from Labour Party organisations and 292 from trade union sources. In addition 22 letters sent to me by hon. Members have enclosed letters from Labour Party organisations and 80 have enclosed letters from trade union sources.

I have received a number of deputations but none which could be described as from the general public.
