HC Deb 15 June 1977 vol 933 c199W
Mr. Arthur

Lewis asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will now appoint a committee of investigation to study and report on a factual basis the advantages and disadvantages affecting Great Britain's economy since joining the EEC.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

Many economic developments, both overseas and domestic, have affected the United Kingdom economy in recent years; only some result from membership of the EEC. In these circumstances, I doubt the likely value of a study of the kind proposed.
